Koh Lipe is small. Walking covers most of the island in under 30 minutes, and that’s the best way to get around. There is no Grab, no Bolt, no songthaew circuit, and no public bus.
For everything walking doesn’t solve (and that’s a short list), you hop a longtail boat, ride a songthaew pickup-truck taxi, or rent a scooter for a half-day loop.
If you’ve come from Koh Lanta or Koh Yao Yai, expect a different rhythm. Those islands reward scooters. Lipe doesn’t. The road network is three lanes of sand-meets-concrete, and most beach-hopping happens by longtail from Hat Yao or the main pier anyway.

Walking Streets and Beach Crossings
Koh Lipe has one main drag, “Walking Street,” which runs across the centre of the island and links Pattaya Beach in the east to Hat Sunset in the west, with Sunrise Beach (Hat Chao) up north. The whole stretch is walkable in 25 minutes at a normal pace.
Beaches to beaches are the longer walk. Pattaya to Sunrise is about 12 minutes; Sunset to Sunrise crosses the headland and takes closer to 20 minutes on the concrete path that loops over the hill. Night-time walking is safe. The streets have light, traffic is slow, and the few vehicle crossings are well-marked.
A tip travellers mention often: bring reef shoes or tough sandals. Several of the concrete paths cut across beach sections with sharp coral fragments. Flip-flops count, but thicker ones save your soles after two or three crossings.
Scooter Rental on Koh Lipe
Several shops along Walking Street and around Hat Pattaya rent scooters.
