WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR DATA.

Short version: we use cookies for analytics and ads, we collect an email address if you apply for a cohort or download a checklist, and we never sell your data. The long version — what's collected, why, and how to control it — is below.

Who runs this site

Bananarchy is written, run, and hand-assembled by Subodh, operating as an individual (not a registered company). For anything in this policy — data requests, corrections, deletion — contact [email protected] or message @subodhh09 on Instagram ↗.

What we collect

Bananarchy collects three kinds of data:

  • Analytics data (via Google Analytics) — pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level, from IP), device/browser type, and how you found the site. This is aggregated and not tied to your name.
  • Advertising data (via Google AdSense) — if you accept the cookie banner's ad cookies, Google may use identifiers to show and measure ads, and may personalize which ads you see based on your browsing.
  • Information you give us directly — if you apply for a cohort, join the WhatsApp list, or download a checklist, we collect your name, email, and/or phone number, submitted via forms on this site (processed through Web3Forms and stored in a private Google Sheet for follow-up).

We do not collect payment details on this site — cohort deposits and balances are handled separately, off-site, at the booking stage.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for two purposes: analytics (to see which guides are actually useful) and advertising (to show and measure ads via Google AdSense). When you first visit, a banner asks you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser and applied via Google's Consent Mode — if you reject, analytics and ad cookies stay off; only essential site functionality runs.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site and reloading, or by adjusting cookie permissions in your browser settings directly.

Advertising & Google AdSense

This site shows or plans to show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings ↗, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info ↗.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site (tours, hostels, insurance, eSIMs, transport bookings) are affiliate links, disclosed in full on our Editorial Standards page. Clicking one may set a cookie with the affiliate network so we're credited if you book — the network (not Bananarchy) handles any data involved in that transaction, under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep data

Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings. Cohort application details and checklist-download emails are kept as long as needed to run the cohort or respond to your inquiry, and deleted on request (see "Your rights" below).

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data to anyone. Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site: Google (Analytics, AdSense, Consent Mode), Web3Forms (form submission relay), and Google Sheets (private lead storage, accessible only to Subodh). Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data passed to them.

Your rights

Wherever you're visiting from, you can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you (email, phone, application details) by contacting [email protected]. We'll respond within a reasonable time and won't charge you for a standard request.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional specific rights:

  • EU/UK (GDPR): the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and the right to object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. Our legal basis for analytics/ads cookies is your consent (given via the cookie banner); for cohort applications, it's performance of the arrangement you're asking us for.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.
  • India (DPDP Act, 2023): the right to access and correct your personal data and to withdraw consent for its processing at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

These rights are available to every visitor regardless of location — the categories above just name the specific laws that formalize them where you are.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters — new data uses, new third parties — the "Last updated" date above will change and, for significant updates, we'll note it on the homepage.
