Quick reality check: if you land before 9 pm, the airport has taxis, pre-booked minivans, and a Grab app that may or may not find you a driver within 10 minutes. Krabi Airport (KBV): The Two Minute Lay of the Land
KBV is one terminal, three floors, and small enough that you won’t get lost. International arrivals exit past a row of SIM card stalls (AIS, dtac, TrueMove) on the ground floor, then either step outside to the taxi queue or walk past the limousine desk inside the terminal to pre-book a fixed-fare transfer. Domestic arrivals dump you on the same floor. ATMs from Krungsri, Bangkok Bank, and SCB are right outside baggage claim. The airport sits on Highway 4 (the main Krabi to Phuket road). Krabi Town is west on that same road. Ao Nang is further west and a bit south, accessed via a turnoff about 7 km before Krabi Town.
Which Destination Are You Going To?
This sounds obvious but it changes everything about the trip.
Krabi Town is the provincial capital. Quiet at night, weekend market on Friday and Saturday nights, good Indian food options, and the closest jumping-off point for ferries to Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, and Railay (well, almost; Railay ferries leave from Ao Nang pier). Most Indian travellers transit Krabi Town on their way to Ao Nang or the islands. 4. Songthaew (Only From Krabi Town)
If you’re staying in Krabi Town itself, songthaews from the airport are not a thing. The songthaew system in Krabi is between Krabi Town and Ao Nang, not from the airport. To use a songthaew, you first need to get yourself to Krabi Town, either by taxi or by shared minivan, then catch a songthaew from the Krabi Town market area (Maharaj Market, near the night market) south to Ao Nang for ₹144 (~50 THB or ~$1.49) per person. Songs run roughly every 15 minutes from 6 am to 6 pm.
This is genuinely the cheapest way to move between Krabi Town and Ao Nang, but it only makes sense if you’re staying in Krabi Town first and don’t mind the songthaew time.

Picking up a SIM card from the first stall.
