El Nido Town: Where to Stay
El Nido has two distinct accommodation zones, and confusing them is the most common mistake first-timers make. The town proper (Barangay Masagana) is where the jeepneys, sari-sari stores, and most bars sit. This is also where every backpacker hostel is. Dumaguete: Where to Stay
Dumaguete is the textbook Philippine backpacker town, university crowd, dive shops on every corner, cheap beer, and a boulevard along the sea where everybody ends up by sunset. The whole town is walkable. You can stay anywhere in the central grid and reach the pier (for ferries to Siquijor) in 10-15 minutes.
