What is Bananarchy?
Bananarchy is a 21- and 30-day overland backpacking trip for Indian passport holders along the Banana Pancake Trail — Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia — plus the free trail encyclopedia that prepares you for it.
We are not a tour agency that sells bus tickets. We are a collective that runs one trip, properly, and writes every guide from the road so you can decide if you want to come — or go alone with the same notes.
The Two Halves
1. The Trip. Small groups (8-14), Indian group leader, hostels not hotels, sleeper trains not flights, and a pace that leaves you tired at night but not rushed at noon. Food is street stalls first, restaurants second. Prices are in INR, visas are for Indian passports, and the budget is backpacker, not flashpacker. See how the trip works and meet Subodh.
2. The Encyclopedia. 2,100+ free guides — visas, money, city hubs, routes, and 500+ POI-first tour pages — written for Indian stomachs, Indian leave balances, and Indian SIM cards. No paywall, no “part 2 on Instagram”. If you choose to travel without us, the guides are still yours.
Why the Name?
The Banana Pancake Trail is the backpacker route through mainland Southeast Asia where every guesthouse serves banana pancakes to tired travellers. Bananarchy is our spelling — anarchy of bananas, order of pancakes. If you searched “what is Bananarki” you are in the right place; it is the same word, typed with a tired thumb on a sleeper bus.
