Why Phuket for Day Trips (and Where It Falls Short)
Phuket works as a base because the pier infrastructure is consolidated. Three piers handle most day-trip boats: Chalong (south coast, the main one), Rassada (near Phuket Town, on the east side), and Bang Rong (east coast, the gateway to Ao Phang Nga). You can sleep in Patong, Kata, or Old Town and still reach a pier within 30 to 45 minutes.
