How to Recharge a Globe SIM
Globe calls prepaid credit “load.” Three recharging paths:
1. The GlobeOne app (fastest) Download GlobeOne from the Play Store or App Store. Tap “Buy Load,” pick a denomination, and pay via GCash, Maya, credit card, or debit card. Load reflects in under a minute. The app also lets you register promos like GoSURF, GoUNLI, and HomeSURF directly, so you don’t need to memorise *123# codes.
2. Retailers and sari-sari stores Walk into any 7-Eleven, Ministop, or sari-sari store. Ask for “Globe load PHP 100.” They punch in your 11-digit number, hand you a receipt with a 12-digit PIN, dial *143# and follow the prompt. Takes 60 seconds. Most stores refuse below PHP 10.
3. GCash to Globe transfer Open GCash, tap “Buy Load,” pick “Globe,” enter your own number, choose amount, confirm. Same effect as app top-up, useful if GCash already has a balance.

How to Recharge a Smart SIM
Smart runs parallel to TNT (Talk ‘N Text, its sub-brand). Both accept the same load.
1. The GigaLife app Download GigaLife. Sign in with your Smart number (one-time OTP). Tap “Buy Load,” pick denomination, pay via card, GCash, Maya, or PayPal. Load posts immediately.

How to Recharge a DITO SIM
DITO is the newest network (launched 2021) and has the smallest coverage map, mostly strong in Cebu, Davao, Metro Manila, and parts of Palawan.

Using GCash to Recharge (The Tourist Default)
GCash is the digital wallet most travellers end up using. If you already have a GCash account and want to load your SIM, the flow is: open GCash → tap “Buy Load” → pick your network → enter your own number → choose amount (PHP 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000) → confirm.

If your phone supports eSIM, you can skip the airport queue entirely.
Physical SIM path: buy at NAIA booth (~PHP 50 for tourist SIM, data add-on PHP 100/5GB) → register SIM on-site (passport required, see SIM registration guide) → recharge via GCash or retailers.
eSIM path: buy through an eSIM provider before flying → activate on landing, no passport registration needed for the eSIM layer → recharge via the eSIM provider’s app or portal.

What Tourists Get Wrong About Philippine Recharge
Confusing load (credit) with data. Load is general prepaid wallet balance. You need to convert it into a promo for data to work. Buying PHP 100 of load doesn’t give you 100 worth of data unless you register GoSURF or GIGA.

Skipping promo registration. Many tourists top up, see load arrive, don’t register a promo, and then complain “data isn’t working.” Solution: open the GlobeOne / GigaLife / DITO app and tap “Register to Promo.”
Loading from Indian cards directly. Most PH networks don’t accept Indian debit cards natively via app. Workaround: load GCash first using Maya (which accepts Indian Visa cards), then use the GCash balance to buy load.
Recharging the wrong number. The USSD code requires the exact 11-digit number (09XX-XXX-XXXX). One wrong digit sends your load to someone else’s number. Double-check before confirming.
