When NOT to Take This Route
November to March is risky. The wet season rolls east-to-west across Indonesia, and Komodo ferries cancel from December to February more than any other period. Mt. Rinjani closes entirely from January to March (officially for “trekking safety”). Labuan Bajo still works, but the liveaboard days get rough weather cancellations on roughly one in three trips.
If you’re travelling February or March, skip Lombok. Fly Bali to Labuan Bajo direct, do Komodo, fly back. It’s a five-day loose end of a trip but saves three days of cancelled ferries.
